4 August 2016  |  Phnom Penh, Cambodia

The 8th Economic Corridors Forum (ECF-8) will discuss specific initiatives/interventions toward realizing the economic potentials of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) corridors. These include the extension and better alignment of the corridors with trade and investment flows, transport and trade facilitation measures, and physical plans for specific sections along the corridors in border areas, and development of special economic zones/industrial cluster development.

Objectives

ECF-8 will review, discuss, and refine proposed initiatives and interventions toward the accelerated development of the GMS Economic Corridors and come up with recommended actions for their implementation.

The forum will further substantiate and translate into action the key approaches to economic corridor development that were proposed at ECF-7 held in Kunming, PRC in June 2015, including the possible extension/realignment of the GMS corridors, the effective/accelerated implementation of TTF measures, the development of SEZs/industrial clusters, the development of an e-commerce platform, as well as other new initiatives.

Target participants

Participation is by invitation only.

Ministers from GMS countries; senior officials (NCs); other officials from concerned ministries/agencies; local and provincial authorities; ADB officers/staff; representatives from the private sector including the GMS Business Council, and development partner organizations.
