Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Viet Nam (CLV) are looking to revitalize tourism in the CLV subregion, and held a meeting on 4 May to discuss implementing the Tourism Development Plan for the Development Triangle Region (2020-2025) and Vision 2030. The working group plans to promote tourism in the triangle region through exhibitions, videos, logos and brands, with a focus on digital advertising.

The Tourism Development Plan covers 13 provinces in three countries, consisting of four provinces in Cambodia, five in Viet Nam and four in Lao PDR. The meeting underscored that key tourism standards must be developed for the triangle region in accordance with the ASEAN tourism standards.

Recommendations from the meeting include organizing a formalization trip for the private sector to study and identify tourism potential in the three countries, and a cross-country caravan tour that connects the southern tourism corridor and integrates tourism spots in the action plan.

Ho Vandy, an adviser of the Cambodia Association of Travel Agents, emphasized the importance of well-developed infrastructure in the triangle region to encourage more tourism movement in the three countries. Furthermore, growth of tourism will also boost sales of agricultural goods in the area. The CLV triangle region is favorable to the growing of vegetables and fruits.
