Project Description
The additional financing will support the current GMS Health Project, particularly the (i) regional disease control and treatment response for MMPs in border provinces; (ii) support for joint outbreak response; (iii) the piloting of a regional information and communication technology (ICT) platform for surveillance and outbreak response; (iv) monitoring and support of regional cooperation in health security; (v) regional knowledge management support; and (vi) surveillance , control, and prevention of emerging or remerging diseases;
Progress

Ongoing. The government of the Lao PDR requested $20 million for additional financing. The loan was approved by ADB on May 22, 2020 and became effective on June 17, 2020. As of July 31, 2020, equipment specifications have been completed and in the process of getting approvals for contracting and procurement. Contract approvals are aimed to be completed by August 2020.

Organized by the Ministry of Health of the #LaoPDR in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank - ADB in September, a workshop gathered risk communication specialists from the #GMS to generate ideas on communicating and coordinating during #health emergencies on a regional scale.
