Project Description

The RETA will involve a study on the North South Economic Corridor (NSEC) development from a multi-sectoral perspective, reviewing spatial development options, and addressing practical infrastructure, human resource, policy, regulatory and institutional barriers to trade, investment, and the movement of goods and people. The study will explore opportunities (one-stop border trade facilities, border town development twinning arrangements, sharing social and physical infrastructure, cross-border production networks, etc) to promote across border trade and investment. This study will also promote private sector participation in development of the corridor and partnership between the private and public sector. increase investment returns using existing transport modes (roads, water, air, and rail). The study should draw on practical international experiences, including initial lessons from other GMS initiatives.
