Project Description
Improve the functionality and usability of the www. mekongtourism.org website, e-library. Mekong Tourism Contributor Program, e-newsletter, and social media. Dedicated MekongTourismForum.org website, customized yearly for respective annual forums. Public-private tourism marketing programs, executed by Destination Mekong, including -Mekong Moments-, MekongMini Movies campaign, -Experience Mekong Collection & Showcases,- and Mekong Trends snapshot reports. The 2020 Experience Mekong Showcases are selected via public voting to increase program brand awareness and member business exposure. More than 6,000 votes were received, selecting 6 showcases from 18 finalists, initially from 60 shortlisted businesses. The Mekong Heroes program was launched in 2020 to recognize individuals that were instrumental in promoting responsible GMS tourism development and innovation. In subsequent years, 3 Mekong Heroes will be recognized. https://www.mekongtour- ism.org/experience-mekong/mekong- heroes/. In partnership with Mekong Institute, the Mekong Coronavirus Innovations webpage has been created to curate initiatives and projects that respond to COVID-19. https://www.destinationmekong.com/projects/ mekong-coronavirus-innovations/ Mekong Memories campaign launch in August 2020 is to keep GMS travel experiences on top of mind of global and regional consumers. The Mekong Deals platform launch in August 2020 is to assist businesses sell vouchers that can generate revenues and help them survive during this CIVID-19 crisis. Both platforms are connected so that storytelling can drive engagement and sales. The Mekong Tourism Advisory Group (MeTAG) was established with over 80 travel professionals. 10 MeTAG meetings were organized to inform the industry about GMS policy updates, as well as strategic roundtables with experts. Ongoing. GMS counterpart contribution: $0.09 million/year). MekongTourism.org website has seen increased traffic, number of articles posted and documents uploaded to e-library, and Tourism Storytellers in Contributor program. Mekong Moments features experience websites by businesses and shared photos and videos tagged with #mekongmoments. Mini movies shared for Mekong Mini Movies campaign with total reach of over 6 million. Total video views: over 1,000,000. Small responsible travel businesses in Experience Mekong Collection (www. Experience Mekong. com). Mekong Trends Snapshot Report on GMS Aviation published end of 2017, and Snapshot Report on Responsible Tourism due to be published in 2021. The Experience Mekong Collection currently has more than 350 member businesses with at least 50% actively engaged in the program. A webpage was created to help struggling businesses sell vouchers and receive donations during CO- VID-19. Successful Experience Mekong Collection webinars were established to tell the stories of small businesses (during COVID19). .
