Project Description
Cambodia and Thailand have agreed in principle to a new location for the Poipet-Aranyaprathet border crossing to accommodate freight traffic. Passenger traffic would continue to use the existing border crossing. The new freight traffic crossing will require a new southerly bypass road, which would comprise about 2 kilometers (km) of four-lane roadway in Cambodia and about 17.6 km in Thailand (primarily along a new alignment). New border-crossing buildings and other facilities will also be built, on both sides of the border. The two countries requested that ADB provide a TA to study and give recommendations on the border-control and management- facilities component of the project, as well as on the specific location and alignment of the new road link.
