The Greater Mekong Subregion Working Group on Agriculture is organizing two policy forums, a GMS Pavilion, chef shows, and coffee and tea demonstrations at the THAIFEX-World of Food Asia 2017 on 31 May to 4 June 2017. These activities will be held at the IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center in Bangkok, Thailand.
The GMS Working Group on Agriculture [4] supports the implementation of the Core Agriculture Support Program Phase 2 (CASP 2) under the Greater Mekong Subregion Economic Cooperation Program [5]. CASP 2 aims to make the subregion an internationally recognized producer of safe and environment-friendly agriculture products that are integrated globally. CASP 2 is managed through a technical assistance project administered by the Asian Development Bank [6].
THAIFEX is one of Asia’s largest food trade fairs. It attracted more than 40,000 visitors and more than 2,000 exhibitors from 40 countries in 2016.
The theme of the multi-stakeholder policy forum is “GMS as One: Unified Regional Approaches to Food Safety and Market Access.” The policy dialogues will be held in the afternoon of 31 May and in the morning of 1 June.
The theme for the GMS Pavilion is “Discover GMS: Asia’s Natural Hub.” The pavilion will showcase high-quality, safe, and environment-friendly food produced in the six GMS countries: Cambodia, People’s Republic of China (Yunnan Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region), Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Myanmar, Thailand, and Viet Nam.
