5th Energy Transition Task Force Meeting

The 5th Meeting of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Energy Transition Task Force (ETTF-5) was convened virtually on 11 June 2025 by the China Southern Grid Lancang-Mekong International Co., Ltd.  (CSG), with support of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) serving as the ETTF Secretariat. ETTF-5 was followed by a face-to-face preliminary meeting of the ETTF on 2 June on the sidelines of the Asia Clean Energy Forum at the ADB headquarters in Manila.

The meeting welcomed the ETTF members and the 2025 ETTF Chair (China) who were scheduled to attend the Asia Clean Energy Forum 2025 during the week. Discussions gathered feedback on the draft 2025 ETTF Workplan, shared update on the Lao-Thailand Cambodia power interconnections study, and discussed preparations for the ensuing BIMP EAGA and GMS meeting on the ASEAN Power Grid and the 5th ETTF meeting on 11 June 2025. The meeting brought together 31 onsite and online participants.

Honing Project Management Skills to Achieve Development Goals

Thirty-nine government officials and specialists joined this year’s Regional Training in Project Management organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Bangkok from 5 to 9 May. The training program is designed to support the Brunei Darussalam–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA), Indonesia–Malaysia–Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT), and the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) in project planning and implementation. It fosters a results-based project management approach that aligns projects to sector strategies.



Study Tour on Green Energy Transition

The study tour and masterclass provided the participants with in-depth understanding and practical knowledge of (i) key energy transition tasks and tools, (ii) technologies and applications to be utilized for renewable energy integration and expansion, (iii) policy frameworks to support energy transition, and (iv) power market development to support energy transition including interstate trades.



3rd Meeting of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Energy Transition Task Force (ETTF-3)

The 3rd Meeting of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Energy Transition Task Force (ETTF-3) took place in Manila on 5─6 June 2024 in a hybrid format. Following ETTF-3, a workshop on electricity market principles was held on 7 June, co-organized by the Asian Development Bank and the ADB Institute, in collaboration with Standford University.
