The Sixteenth Meeting of the Subregional Transport Forum (STF-16) was held in Nay Pyi Taw, Republic of the Union of Myanmar, on 24–25 October 2012. The Forum was jointly organized by the Ministry of Rail Transportation (MORT) of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The Special 12th RPTCC meeting (RPTCC-12-A) was held mainly to continue discussions on the inter-governmental MOU to establish the Regional Power Coordination Center (RPCC), which will oversee the evolution of the GMS power market toward a more open, but appropriately regulated competitive market.

The 7th Semi-Annual Meeting of the Working Group on Environment (WGE AM-18) was held in Beijing, People’s Republic of China (PRC). The meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP), with support from the Greater Mekong Subregion Environment Operations Center (EOC). The major objectives of the meeting were to (i) report on Core Environment Program and Biodiversity Conservation Corridors Initiative’s (CEP-BCI) activity status and component strategies, (ii) discuss CEP-BCI implementation, and (iii) discuss related programs.

The Ninth Meeting of the GMS Working Group on Agriculture (WGA-9) was held in Nanning, Guangxi, People's Republic of China, on 4-6 July 2012, with the theme "Innovative Financing through Public Private Partnership (PPP) for Regional Investment in Low Carbon Agriculture in the GMS". The Meeting was organized and sponsored by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) with the cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture, PRC, and attended by participants from the six GMS countries (Cambodia, People's Republic of China, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Viet Nam), and ADB.

The Eighteenth Meeting of the Working Group on Environment (WGE AM-18) was held in Jinghong, Yunnan, People’s Republic of China (PR China). The meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, PR China, with support from the Greater Mekong Subregion Environment Operations Center (EOC).

The Forum was jointly organized by the Ministry of Transport (MOT) of Thailand and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The Second Meeting of the Urban Development Task Force held in Kunming City from 14–15 November 2013 was undertaken with the objective of further strengthening regional cooperation in the urban development sector and stimulating integration and competitiveness of GMS corridor towns and border areas.
