Preparing the Third GMS Corridor Towns Development Project

This brochure looks at plans for the Third Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Corridor Towns Development Project, to improve urban services in three towns in southern Myanmar.

With the upgrading of the Asian Highway, it is expected that regional trade and economic activities will increase along the GMS East-West Economic Corridor, which extends from Da Nang in Viet Nam, through the Lao PDR and Thailand to the coast of Myanmar. Investment in basic urban services such as water supply and solid waste management in the corridor towns of Mawlamyine, Hpa-An and Myawaddy, is vital to attract investment, and improve the quality of life of residents.
